It was good to see Hans Price & Gavin Bird back in good form and it is farewell to Martin Ineson who is moving away from the area and running his last race for us. There were pbs for Dave Cantwell, Martin Ineson, Gavin Bird and Mark Pidgeon and an excellent debut run over the distance for Neil Preddy.

Dominic Croft won his 8th consecutive outright Marathon victory stretching back to the Isle of Wight Marathon in 2004. Dominic felt a hamstring strain at 24 miles and probably lost a minute or so over the last 2 miles. This breaks Bryan Vaughan's long standing Club 40+ record.

Alison Blincowe took on a very stiff challenge over a moto-cross circuit in Swanley, Kent comprising mud, sand and sharp hills doing well to break 70 minutes.

Sam Cruickshank had a solid run going through half way in 59 secs but running out of steam on lap 2. This was an excellent effort bearing in mind Sam had missed 4 weeks of training in March/April.

Cary Gray was just outside the V50 honours in this race which forms part of the East Midlands Grand Prix series.

Steve Naylor, running for first claim club Bedford & County, had a great top 20 finish in exalted company and Sophie Carter went close to her personal best on a very hot day. Both ran negative splits - Steve 15:33/15:30 and Sophie 18:34/18:33.

Sunday 27th May 2012 - Needles Cross-Country Half Marathon
Alison Blincowe took on this tough challenge in the Isle of Wight and put in a strong perforamnce.

Sarah Dawson took part in Scotland's biggest race joining 23,000 others and running her best marathon time for the Club.

Steve Naylor won the race running within 11 seconds of his last year's course record whilst James Bolton led our men home in 8th. Sophie Carter and Jess Webb took 1st & 2nd Senior Lady honours respectively. Bryan Vaughan had a great run to finish 2nd V50 and Susan Harrison was 2nd LV55. A special mention for 16 year old Jake Harrison who sliced 3 minutes from his 2011 time. Winning time: 21:15 (Men)/25:05 (Women) Number of finishers: 349
Alison Blincowe sliced a massive 1 minute 18 from her previous best on this course setting another personal best.

Leo Brooke-Little tackled this Ultra-Marathon race over the North Yorkshire Moors. There were 54 starters but only 29 finished the race testifying to its extreme difficulty.

Cary Gray went to Wendover to take on this tough hilly run including 190m of climbing in the Chilterns in his third race in 5 days.

James Bolton ran a brave race holding off England Ultra international Paul Fernandez for 8 miles and securing an excellent 2nd place. James, Brian O'Connor, Dave Cantwell & Kevin Game won 1st team honours for us for the first time in 15 years whilst Jess Webb had another strong run to finish 4th in the women's race. Carey Gray completed his 20th race of the year to date and it was great to see Jon Hill back in action. Val Berryman-Bousquet went off-course but still ran a creditable time. James Bolton went one better than at Otmoor winning the race and leading our men to another team victory.Bryan Vaughan, at age 59m, took 1st V50 honours, Dave Cantwell was 2nd V45 and Jess Webb 1st Senior Lady and 4th overall. Saturday 16th June 2012 - Humph's Hilly Half (Bourton-on-the-Water)

On a very wet and blustery evening over an extremely hilly course Dave Cantwell battled through to 5th overall whilst Will Hudson ran only a couple of minutes outside his personal best. Winning time: 1:17:27 Number of finishers: 178
Cary Gray ran the next East Midlands Grand Prix race in a slower time than expected due to being baulked at the start.

Jason Barry ran a little slower than at the same venue in May but showed good signs of recovery from his long-term injury.

Saturday 23rd June 2012 - Picnic Ultra-Marathon (Trail)
Brian O'Connor took part in what is advertised as "easily the hardest marathon in Britain" with 7,000 ft of climbing all on tracks and trails.Brian reached 17 miles in good shape but became dehydrated and suffered badly losing his 3rd place but still managing a creditable 6th.

Due to heavy rain prior to the race it was not possible to run the full distance so that the race was over 9.77K. James Bolton continued his purple patch taking 2nd and leading our men to 1st team once more.Sophie Carter continued her winning ways with yet another 1st place in the wmen's race and the evergreen Bryan Vaughan took 2nd V50 honours.
