Steve Naylor broke the course record to win from James Bolton who had another great run for a personal best. Jess Webb was 3rd Senior Lady and 4th overall whilst Bryan Vaughan once more took 1st V50 honours. There were also personal bests for Will Hudson, Cyrus Mower and Neil Preddy with Lisa Clarke making her Club debut over the distance.

Carey Gray ran the last event in the East Midlands Grand Prix series and improved his time by a minute since the first race 2 months ago.

Howard Williams ran an excellent debut for the Club over the distance on an undulating course and will surely soon break the 40-minute barrier on the flat.

Thursday 12th July 2012 - Hertfordshire County 10K Championships - Sandy, Beds.
Steve Naylor had another great run to finish 6th in exalted company in his first track 10K, running just a few seconds outside his road p.b. in unfavourable conditions.

James Bolton ran Ultra international Paul Fernandez close to take 2nd over this extremely hilly course. Jess Webb won the women's race and there were category honours for Brian O'Connor (1st V40), Carey Gray (1st V50), Dave Cantwell (3rd V40) and Mark Pidgeon (3rd V50). Our men were 1st team. 16 year old Jake Harrison had a strong run to finish 23rd, Sue Cantwell showed she is returning to fitness after injury and Alison Blincowe continued her steady progress.

Alison Blincowe withstood some very hot conditions with few water stations over a point to point course along the Thames from Windsor to Marlow. Although suffering from dehydration she managed to finish in one piece.

For the fifth race in a row, James Bolton came 2nd to lead our men home whilst Sophie Carter notched up yet another race win.Susan Harrison took 3rd LV55 honours.Jakes Harrison, aged 16, acquitted himself well once more in the U19 catgegory.

Steve Naylor, running for 1st claim club Bedford & County, took a victory just 4 days after his previous 5K at Solihull on Saturday. This was more of a tactical race with Steve putting in a sprint on the last lap to overhaul the leader.

Wednesday 25th July 2012 - Back in a Flash 5K (Coate Water, Swindon)
Susan Haines sliced 20 seconds from her previous 5K effort and took 3rd LV55 honours.

James Bolton was again our first man home behind second claimer Steve Naylor who won the race in a new course record.Sophie Carter was, once more, unbeatable in the women's contest and Susan Harrison had another strong run to take 3rd LV55 honours.

James Bolton secured a well-earned victory after 6 second places and Jess Webb completed a Woodstock double winning the women's race. Brian O'Connor was 2nd V40, Carey Gray 2nd V50 and Mike Shipway 1st V70. We easily won men's team honours. It was disappointing that, with over 30 registered female members, we could only field 2.

Roger Bradley & Susan Haines took part in this series race at Sandhurst near Gloucester and put in some strong performances.

Although the turn-out was low, probably because of the Bank Holiday, we fielded 16 Harriers across the two separate men's & women's races. James Bolton was 2nd in the men's race whilst Brian O'Connor was 3rd V40. Sophie Carter won the women's race by over a minute and Jess Webb was 2nd SL and 5th place overall.

There was an excellent attendance of 23 for the last series race including new girls Julie Read and Kate Bird. James led our men home to take 2nd Senior Man honours, Brian O'Connor was 3rd V40 and Carey Gray 3rd V50. In the overall series results Sophie Carter was 1st and James 2nd. Carey Gray & Mark Pidgeon were 2nd & 3rd V50 respectively and both our men & women took 2nd team honours.

Steve Naylor, running for first claim club Bedford & County, finished an impressive 4th behind some household names in British athletics.

The heat and hilly course took its toll but James Bolton and Sophie Carter made light of the conditions. James won by almost 3 minutes and Sophie came 9th overall to win the women's race.Both are County 10-mile champions, Dave Cantwell is V40 champion and Kevin Game 3rd County SM. Our men are County team champions.James & Sophie both ran p.bs and there were Club debut 10-mile efforts from Roger Bradley, Cyrus Mower, Neil Preddy,Julie Read, Colin Travi, Kate Bird, Val Berryman-Bousquet and Alison Blincowe.

Four Harriers all did well in this multi-terrain 5K with Roger Bradley taking 1st V45/49 honours and Rich Dunbabin finishing 2nd V55/59 whilst Alison Blincowe and Paula Booth completed personal bests.

Sunday 23rd September 2012 - SEAA 6-Stage Road Relays, Rushmore Arena, Aldershot (6 x 6K legs)
Running on leg 4 for his first claim club Bedford & County, Steve Naylor took over in 3rd place but chased down the leaders and handed over in the lead. This position was not maintained however and Bedford finished 3rd for the bronze medal.Steve was 2nd fastest on his leg and 16th fastest overall.

There was a good Club turn-out for this local race in which Kevin Game finished 5th after running to the race from Hanborough.
