Oxford Half Marathon – October 11th
A popular race attracting a huge 15,000 entries, but “only” ten thousand or so finishers. Many who took part were running for their choosen charity rather than competing for a club. Only 15% registered a club. The event attracts a large number of spectators to cheer the runners on.

Sonning Common 10k – October 4th
Tom Preskett, club co-captain reports: This morning, there was a new GP Road Race – the Sonning Common 10K, just North of Reading and only its 4th running. It was nice and mild October morning for the 301 runners, an undulating course, a pleasant, cosy vibe and house music blaring out in Wyfold Wood. For any team race, we like to have a Woodstock Harriers footprint. And we did. Not a massive one, but a footprint nonetheless. Two of our 2026 stalwarts made the journey south, crossed the border into Berkshire and did our gold and black vest proud.
In their own words:
Claire C: ‘It’s a LOVELY course and the support out there is the best I’ve ever seen for a small local event !! I’ll defo do it again.’ For Claire this was a warm-up for next week’s Oxford Half. She still ran strongly for 31st overall female and 8th VF50.
Lizzie K: ‘Apart from the early 7.30am start from home, it was a great race. A mix of housing estates at the beginning, parks, forested roads and then scenic country roads. It’s not a flat course but most hills are done after Mile 3. It was well organised and I echo that the support on course was excellent. Claire and I had a great morning!’
Lizzie’s great 2026 continues. A VF50 category win; 8th overall female. Her position of 3rd overall in the GP standings will be given a healthy boost.
Well done both and thanks for turning out for the club. This is one to think about for next year…
